Jul. 13, 2006

Israeli forces have bombed the runways of Beirut International Airport, forcing Lebanese authorites to shut down the facility. The strikes, which took place around 6 a.m. local time, forced the diversion of two flights to Larnaca airport in Cyprus. It was not immediately known whether the strikes came from Israeli aircraft or naval vessels. Some 19 civilians have died since the Israeli raids against Lebanon began July 12.
