RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday backed the DMK's stand against disinvestment of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC)
Media Release
Jul. 8, 2006

RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday backed the DMK's stand against disinvestment of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) and brushed aside the BJP's charge that Manmohan Singh was a "very weak" Prime Minister.

"Disinvestment is there in the CMP. It is not a question of regional parties...We have to improve things and not make our youths jobless and turn them towards extremism," he said posing the question why Karunanidhi should favour disinvestment. He was speaking to reporters at the airport on returning from a fortnight-long tour abroad. To a query that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was upset and facing pressure from UPA allies, he said that the BJP too worked under pressure when it was in power.
