Jerome Taylor's career-best haul helped the West Indies dismiss India cheaply on the opening day
Jerome Taylor's career-best haul helped the West Indies dismiss India cheaply on the opening day of the fourth and final Test on Friday.
India, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, were all out for 200.
Taylor took five for 50, his first five-wicket haul in a Test innings but Indian captain Rahul Dravid did his best to save the innings with a watchful 81 before being caught by Ramdin off Collymore.
The visitors gave an extremely inept batting display on an admittedly awkward Sabina Park pitch to lose four wickets each in the post-lunch and post-tea sessions.
India lost its openers Wasim Jaffer (1) and Virender Sehwag (0) within the first four overs as West Indies pacemen revelled on a pitch which offered early moisture and bounce.
VVS Laxman (18) departed in the very first over after lunch when he drove at a delivery from Dwayne Bravo and was caught in the gully region.
Yuvraj Singh (19) hit a few meaty blows including two successive fours off Bravo before he missed a straight delivery from Jerome Taylor and was adjudged out leg before wicket.
Mohammad Kaif (13) had trouble in adjusting to the bounce and pace of the wicket and fended off a catch in the slip cordon after surviving two earlier chances in similar fashion.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (3) tried to force a cut off Corey Collymore and edged a catch to Bravo in the slip cordon.
Collymore was thus rewarded for his excellent control in the afternoon where he sent down a successive of maiden overs and built pressure from the other end.
