Eye opener for Indian cricket or a simple lesson – ‘play good cricket instead of getting busy as publicity stunts’!
Ajit Parker, Special Correspondent
August 01, 2004

When the betting market predicted that Sri Lanka will win, I was surprised! What really happened to team India? Why Ganguli was so nervous? Was the match set up? A win for Sri Lanka for helping to keep Pakistan out of the final?

Let us assume it was not! However, as Saurav dada says, it was an eye opener, team India has to learn that their performance was way sub par as I predicted six weeks ago!

They technically were thrown out of the tournament by losing with Pakistan. India – the best team of South Asia – why this dismal performance? The problem is that this is a cricket team and not Bollywood heroes.

The BCCI must make sure players have incentive to play but the only way to create good cricket for India is continuously injecting young uprising players in the team to keep the experienced on their toes.

India’s top players need to rise for the India Pak Aussies tri-series. The country is looking at them!
