Advani leads, Vajpayee supports the onslaught to expose and demolish UPA
Sudhir Chadda, Special correspondent

Congress and its newly formed UPA has won a battle. But the war is on. The newly transformed BJP is ready to take on the task of saving mother India from them. The next battle will be drawn in the Parliament over the speaker post. CPI(M)’s Somenath Chatterjee will have to sustain with votes from others who fought with CPI(M) ideology for years. The alliance UPA will be challenged, every second, every minuite, every day and week after week till it decides to evaporate. Grass root level Hindutva activities has started all over India. RSS and VHS will lead another second level onslaught. When minorities try and rule the majority, what else do you expect – says a senior BJP leader. It will be somewhat similar to what happened in South Africa where minorities killed and massacred the majority black for some time before disappearing from the political horizon. The party is in full gear to lead India to Hindutva says Advani.
The fight is at grass root level. BJP plans to bring in original non-violent disobedience to make them feel the punch of mainstream India.

it looks certain that Advani will lead. As a party functionary explained: "Vajpayee felt, that as a former Prime Minister, he would be given a house, SPG cover and other benefits, while L K Advani would just be an ordinary MP. Of course, he would retain a certain amount of security cover, depending on the threat perception. But if the former Deputy Prime Minister took over as the leader of Opposition, he would get cabinet status and the attendant facilities."

For Advani, it will be his second innings in this role. He held the position between 1991 and 1993 during P V Narasimha Rao's regime. This was after the Rath Yatra catapulted him to the political centrestage and almost doubled BJP's strength in the Lok Sabha.

If that seems settled, who will be the BJP's deputy leader and chief whip in the Lok Sabha? Delhi MP Vijay Kumar Malhotra is emerging the most serious contender to be deputy leader.

To his credit, he is the seniormost MP after Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani. Following their electoral reverses, former petroleum minister Ram Naik and human resource minister Murli Manohar Joshi are out of the race. Moreover, as the only one to survive the Sheila Dixit tidal wave in Delhi, his choice is just a formality now. As for the chief whip, BJP general secretary Shivraj Singh Chauhan may be the chosen one.

Vajpayee will guide the Opposition while Advani will zoom in on the nitty-gritty of daily work It will be Advani's second innings as Opposition leader. He held the position during Rao's regime it."
