Recent defense collaborations between India, Russia and Israel with the blessing of US are stunning the world. It started with India’s acquiring world class Phalcon airborne early warning systems mounted on redesigned Russian-made Ilyushin-76 transport planes.

Now there are indications that the trio is working on missile defense systems that can protect India and Israel from relatively short-range nuke missiles. According to reliable sources in Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of India, the prototype shield is ready. While US is moving ahead with tactical overall shield, this one provide additional umbrella to protect against short and medium range missiles from Pakistan, Iran or China. Russians are in the process of developing a deterrent against US overall shield. The collaboration also extends in the area of surveillance equipment and assault rifles for India’s infantry battalions. India used $ 65 million for the formation of "lethal platoons" to counter militancy, especially in the insurgency-wracked Kashmir. Israel’s Green Pine radar, which tracks incoming ballistic missiles and locks the Arrow missiles onto targets is helping India shield its airspace against any incoming Pakistani or Chinese missiles. Another project that the trio is working on is special ammunition and robotic warfare. This will help in future for neutralizing suicide bombers remotely and fight warfare like Indian army fought in Kargil sector of Kashmir. Robotic warfare can help reduce loss of life in difficult terrain like Kashmir or Afghanistan. Israel is keen on forming a strong defense partnership with India. Both the countries are equally challenged by Islamic nukes especially if Taliban like extremists take control of Pakistan sometimes in future. Russians are also collaborating with India in the areas of Submarines and naval warfare. DRDO of India is quiet about these projects. 

While India is concerned about its security specially being surrounded by China and Pakistan, Israel finds a new real friend in India. Russians are also suffering from Islamic terrorists in Chechnya. The three nations are collaborating to protect their air space and ground territory from conventional, nuclear and terrorist threats.
