India to explore moon in 2006 - India challenges all superpowers! Mars mission not too far!

According to Indian Space Research Organization chairman G Madhavan Nair, India has started the necessary preparation for monn exploration in 2006. A Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) will launch the Rs 380 crore Chandrayan to the moon in 2006-07. "We should go for exploring the moon not by person but with an instrument, which will help to collect tremendous data to the scientific community," he said. India’s mission will be most cost effective. Today every country involved in space exploration is in budget crisis and is looking for cheaper and technologically innovative method of moon exploration. India’s biggest achievement is in exploring the space at a fraction of what is cost US and the Russians. According to many in US, the US mission to moon in 1969 was not for real. It is impossible to penetrate the radiation levels in the space surrounding the moon for any humans or animals. Russians have postponed and finally abandoned the lunar mission. The French are considering some join effort with India in satellite launching and space exploration. In November, 2003, Indian rocket scientist-turned-president Abdul Kalam spoke out again in favor of his country's participation in Martian exploration during the 40th anniversary celebrations of rocket launches from the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC):
But the idea suddenly became solemn and official, when the go-ahead came from a distinguished absentee. The atmosphere was electrified as President APJ Abdul Kalam, a VSSC aluminus, made an invisible appearance on voice-mail interaction. "Setting up a habitat in Mars, procuring material from Moon, forming an efficient system of mapping the resources of the earth and removing poverty should be the theme of Indian space research," Dr Abdul Kalam told G Madhavan Nair, chairman, ISRO. "I hope I have given you enough work for the next 50 years," he added.
